Loreto, Dinagat Islands: A 3-day
disaster resiliency camp was conducted at the Municipality of Loreto, Province
of Dinagat Islands, May 19-21, 2015. Guided by the theme “The Role of the Youth
in Addressing Disaster Resiliency”.
The youth from the 7 different
municipalities this province gathered to undergone camping activity implemented
by DILG’s “Operation Listo” so called Wemboree, one of the components of the
said program which aims that the youth will appreciate and get involved in the
disaster preparedness endeavors of the LGUs.
Inputs and exercises on Leadership
and other motivational exercises done during activity. The camp aims to develop
the participants’ mindset from the typical “me” to “we” and transform
participants to be a good examples to their generations. Other activity
includes Body Painting, Poster Making & Jingle making. The said activity
concluded a grand campfire that showcases the talents/skils of participants in
presenting workshop outputs in the various media such as “skit”, “interpretative
dance”, “story board” used as creative presentations and the releasing of sky
lanterns done after the grand campfire by means of commitment of the 36 participants.
The activity was organized by the
provincial government of Dinagat Islands through its DILG Provincial Office
under the supervision of the Provincial Director Domingo E. Bulabog with Miss
Ma. Rosario M. Ambray of Loreto as host Municipal Local Government Operations
Officer (MLGOO) aided the activity. Wemboree is held at the Loreto Central
Elementary School, Loreto, Dinagat Islands. The Honorable Mayor Nena I.
Ladaga-Quijano graces the momentous Wemboree.
